6th
grade stain glass window
Objectives: To learn how to recognize and mix with
the primary and secondary colors to create intermediates. Learn the history of stain glass windows in the Gothic
period.
Choices: Which lesson will challenge you, but you
feel you can do successfully?
- Create
a stain glass window using geometric shapes
- Create
a stain glass window with a repeated design in two or four sections
- Create
a stain glass window that tells a story in 4 sections of the stain
glass window.
Lesson 1, directions and grade sheet:
- Follow
directions on measurements
- The
border should be painted in spectrum order
- Divide
the paper up appropriately in the center to form 4 areas to create a
symmetrical or radial design.
- Create
a geometric design with approximately 20 shapes in each quadrant
- Paint
the inside design with a variety of primary, secondary and
intermediate colors.

- Follow

- The
border should be painted in spectrum order
- Divide
the center into 2 or 4 sections
- Create
a design from a fish, bird, flower, or talk to me about any idea that
is different. Fill the design area so it touches all four sides
- Transfer
that design to the 2 quadrants or 4 quadrants, make the designs
reflect or radiate
- Paint
the inside by making the main design in warm colors and the background
in cool colors
- Paint

- Follow

- The
border should be painted in spectral order
- Divide
the center into 4 sections; I want you to tell a sequential story in
the center. Each quadrant will be a different sequence in the story.
The designs should touch the edges in each quadrant; keep them simple
lines and shapes. Your story could be a nursery rhyme or children’s
book, a holiday story, ect.
